For MSP430 development I use this utility to program MCU's Flash and to debug application. After successful MCU programming, serial terminal is run to allow printing debugging messages. Because BSL uses software UART, debug uses the same pins and the same approach. ZIP file contains debug function example for MSP430F149 written in inline assembly. Download is available here.
